Everyone experiences anxiety at some point, whether itโs a specific focus of worry or just the increased heartbeat that comes with uncomfortable situations. Many people struggle to manage anxiety when it arises, as it can keep them trapped in their thoughts. However, believe me when I say that it’s possible to break that cycle and start truly living, rather than merely existing.

How to deal with anxiety and start living
The first step is to understand what causes your anxiety.
Speak about it openly; donโt let this anxiety fester and grow in silence. When you feel like youโre in survival mode, your brain may prevent you from moving forward because it’s trying to shut everything down to ensure your physical and emotional well-being. By naming your anxiety, you can identify tools that will help you manage your discomfort more effectively.
The next step I would take is to separate myself from my fears.ย
Many people believe that if they feel something is true, then it must be true; this is not correct. Anxiety often makes everything seem much bigger, scarier, and more permanent than it is. To counter this belief that the sky is always falling, ask yourself: Is this a thought or a fact? What is the worst that could realistically happen? And will this still matter a year from now? Typically, anxiety diminishes when we apply logic to it. Having someone who is very realistic has helped me immensely with my anxiety. It has allowed me to compartmentalize my fears and truly live in the moment.

The next step is to take micro-actions.
This means not overdoing it or overthinking it. Anxiety tells you to wait until you feel ready; the truth is, youโll wait forever if you do that, and you may never take that step. Start small and remind yourself that you are capable, that you can push through this uncomfortable feeling, and that you can take that leap.
Additionally, itโs important to learn how to calm your nervous system.ย
This can involve breathing exercises, cold water plunges, stretching, working out, or going for a walk to reset. I find that reading, writing, or listening to music helps me calm down and re-ground myself in my truth.
The next step is to stop waiting for the perfect time to start living your life because there is no ideal time. You might think that when you feel less anxious, you will travel, or that when you build your confidence, you will finally post that content, or that when you feel “normal,” you will make friends. However, those moments may never come.
Hereโs a reality check:
Life is happening right now. Be as perfect as you can in your way, because by doing so, you will attract the people who truly deserve to be around you. Itโs not fake; itโs not performative. It is genuinely who you are.
You will find relief not by waiting for your anxiety to magically disappearโbecause it wonโtโbut by fully engaging with life despite it. Anxiety is part of being human; itโs a natural aspect of our existence.

Lastly, the next thing I would do is celebrate the small victories, even if they seem minor.
Of course, you want to celebrate the big accomplishmentsโthey’re often more noticeable. However, the small wins are the steps we take towards living our lives fully and making those giant leaps. Itโs about collecting these small victories. For example, I recently went out to get coffee and was able to talk to the barista without needing to check my order when I felt nervous. I also went to the gym and worked out without worrying about what other people thought of me.
The more you recognize that not everyoneโs world revolves around you, the more you begin to build your confidence, and your anxiety starts to diminish.
Itโs normal to feel fear, but you have the choice to determine whether it drives you or if you take a backseat. You’re allowed to live fully, even if your hands are trembling.
Take a look at your daily habits and what you’re reading; consider stepping out of your comfort zone. Who knows? Where you want to be might just be outside the boundary you’re too afraid to cross. I’m not saying to take reckless chances. Living freely doesn’t mean living without responsibilities. Anxiety is simply a ball of mixed emotions that can be managed with the right tools that you need to develop to help you succeed.
Talk to somebody about how you feel a therapist or doctor do what you need to do so that your anxiety isnโt keeping you from experiencing this once-in-a-lifetime experience on this earth of all the things that you have missed out on so far from, we are no longer going to miss out on important Points in our lives out of fear that we might get hurt in the process.
It is a choice to wake up and choose to be better than yesterday.
When you recognize you’re the main character in your life, you can then be both the antagonist and the protagonist. You will fully take responsibility for your success. Anxiety is so important. But sometimes it can feel like a bad mother who is keeping you from reaching your full potential.

You were granted this life, so why are you the one holding yourself back from fully embracing success?
Anxiety is simply misdirected energy. I have a fear of failure and worry about what others think of me. My anxiety has led me to situations where I appear uneducated because I was so focused on what was coming out of my mouth that I felt suffocated. Anxiety should be something we learn to live with, not something we are forced to live under. I shouldn’t fear what comes out of my mouth to the point where I stand there, folding in on myself, and choking on my words.
When I began to adopt a “so what?” mindset, everything changed.
So what if I embarrass myself? So what if people judge me? So what if things get awkward? The truth is that life keeps moving forward, people forget, and we all grow. Everyone is navigating this life for the first time, and if they haven’t taken the steps you’re considering, who are they to judge? They don’t know what they’re doing either.
Instead of fixating on the worst-case scenario, focus on the positives of trying something new.
Facing your fears diminishes their power. Your brain calms down when it feels prepared. As I mentioned, you canโt think your way into confidence; you need to take action to build it.
This might mean you have to stop arguing with your anxious thoughts. Anxious thoughts crave attention. What if you started to starve them? You can acknowledge them without reacting. Picture a softer soundtrack playing in your mind, noticing your fears without letting them overwhelm you.
Treat your anxiety as a temporary condition, not a life sentence. It is manageable and not set in stone. Every time you override fear, even a little, you gain more control.
